Hey — it's Rames
Today’s quite a day for me. After experimenting with a few newsletter formats, I'm proud to say that it has been a full year of 3-2-1: Notion! issues without missing a single week.
Like many products/services, you can expect it to change from time to time, but I'm delighted to have found a format that works for me, that I'm happy to write every single week, and most importantly, that helps you improve your Notion skills.
Maybe it's just another newsletter to you, but to me, it's also a meaningful way to connect with those who support my work. So thanks for being part of that adventure 🫶
3 Tips
1/ Wrap Titles in Notion Calendar View
I think I've been waiting for this since I started using Notion. You can now wrap titles in the calendar view. It's limited to two lines (for aesthetic reasons, I guess, but it's already so much better).
To activate:
- Go to your database settings → Properties
- Find your title and access its settings
- Enable "Wrap in view"
2/ Notion Subitems Flattened List
There's a new sub-item setting option: flattened list. It allows you to display all your subitems as normal items (without the toggles), but shows the parent item on its side (in gray and with an arrow indicator).
This is extremely useful when you want to view all subitems without having to click the toggle every time.
3/ Useful Notion Shortcuts
2 Resources
2/ Notion Email? (Skiff Acquisition)
After Cron's acquisition and transformation into Notion Calendar, Notion dipped their toes a little bit further into becoming a complete suite of products with their new acquisition of Skiff.
Skiff was a collaborative workspace, just like Notion, but with a big focus on end-to-end encrypted emails.
There was a lot of discontent from the Skiff community, as the Skiff service will be discontinued (email, calendar, drive, pages), and users will lose their private data if they do not export/migrate it to other services.
Will we see a Notion Email or Notion Chat in the next months/years?
