Journaling for 1600 days in a row, 2023 Notion Throwback & Sneaky Updates

Hey — it's Rames

Today is my birthday! Can you guess how old I am? Reply to this email with your guess, and win the template of your choice if you're right (one shot per person) 🎁

As a surprise for my birthday, we went to Taroudant this weekend. We stayed in a beautiful riad, hiked in the mountains, enjoyed the swimming pool, and really had time to chill, which was super nice.

Plus, I was the king of the weekend, as I won the grand Cribbage tournament we organized among ourselves 👑

3 Tips

While we were all occupied with the launch of the Notion Calendar app, Notion quietly released a few small features and improvements. Here's what you might have missed last week:

1/ URL Redesign (+ revert to old)

Notion recently redesigned the way URLs are displayed in the URL property of your databases. The protocol has been removed, it’s shorter, and the 'path' is now shown in grey. Here is a side-by-side comparison:

Switch to old Notion url

If you hate that change, you can still revert to the previous version by following these steps:

  • Edit your property
  • Toggle on the "Show full URL" option

2/ Zero-indexes

Start Notion list at zero

A micro-update for all list lovers: you can now start your numbered lists at zero. Simply type 0. to get started!

3/ Group by checkbox

Notion group by checkbox

An even smaller update, almost imperceptible, but a necessary improvement for databases. Now, when you group your database by a checkbox property, you can see the label of that checkbox property (when before, you only had the checkbox).
